At Medeshamstede Academy, we demonstrate our understanding of autism as a difference rather than a deficit. Together we thrive, demonstrating resilience in the face of adversity and challenge. We develop resilience in our pupils to overcome barriers, participate in and contribute to their community and the world we live in. Through our Universal Skills Builder Partnership, our focus this term is to build upon the essential skills of positivity and communication, enabling our pupils to have a voice and share their views.

We provide our children with opportunities to develop the skills of leadership and teamwork through their work and play, practising responsibility and demonstrating empathy and understanding for healthy relationships with others.

We understand that one of the greatest gifts we can share is friendship. We endeavour to give our students the skills they need to take time and reflect on their learning, actions and emotions. We enable students through the use of whole academy approach with Zones of regulation where children can communicate their feelings and are helped to reflect on what to do to support themselves. We have a dedicated pastoral team who support individual students with Emotional Literacy support with this reflection time and communication.

Within our ethos of inclusivity, we believe our children can achieve anything they set their hearts on. We can build a community where every moment is an opportunity to do our best and achieve our goals and outcomes. At Medeshamstede Academy, each one of us, every day, in every way, seek to live by these values, and to help others to do so too.
